Where in the World is Smokey?

Roaming the Black Hills of South Dakota

Erik Ringnes graduated from UT Knoxville in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering and in 1984 with a master's degree also in aerospace engineering. He now lives in Glendale, Ariz., and works as a staff engineer at Honeywell.

He sent these photos from a trip that he and his 14-year-old son, Austin, took to the Black Hills of South Dakota in August 2008. The first shot is from Mt. Rushmore and the other is at the Crazy Horse monument, just a few miles away.
