Beth Newman is a junior at UT Knoxville. She is studying statistics in the College of Business Administration. She sent these photos in July 2008.
"This summer I went to Israel for two weeks and had an amazing time! The trip was through an organization called 'Birthright,' where anyone that is Jewish between the ages 18-26 can have a free trip to Israel for a week. I extended my trip to explore on my own.
Newman said her trip included "a guided tour from the top of Israel all the way to the bottom, with hikes in the Golan Heights, rafting in the Jordan River, floating in the Dead Sea and reflections and educational seminars on Israel and the Jewish Religion.
"The picture I attached was me on a Tel Aviv beach. It was one of our last days on the tour so the group of 45 spent the day relaxing (and burning up!) on the hot sands and cool Mediterranean Sea."
