Diana Lopez was director of graduate admissions and records at UT Knoxville for many years and retired in May 2005.
She wrote: "I took Smokey with me on vacation to Sydney and Canberra, Australia, to visit friends. While in Sydney, I spoke at the Education USA’s Pre-Departure Orientation at the U.S. Consulate and met with the public affairs officer, who is a UT Knoxville graduate. Although Smokey was unable to go to the U.S. Consulate in Sydney, he was able to visit the U.S. Embassy in Canberra.
"Smokey most enjoyed petting the kangaroos and koalas at the Symbio Wildlife Park outside Sydney. They were so cute playing together. A visit with friends at Bondi Beach finished off the trip."
