Where in the World is Smokey?

Serving a Tour of Duty in Iraq

Lt. Col. Robert J. Campbell sent this photo in late April 2008 from Iraq, where he is serving with the U.S. Air Force.

"For one more week, I am the chief, mental health services, Balad Air Base, Iraq. We are the only Air Force Trauma Center in Iraq, located about 40 miles from northwest of Baghdad. I have been here since New Year's Day."

Campbell's wife, Cindy Edwards Campbell, is a Knoxville native who earned her master's degree from UT Knoxville. Campbell will return home in mid-May 2008, and he and his wife will be moving to Texas during the summer.

"I will wear my Smokey shirt in Texas, reminding those folks in Austin of where the real UT is located," he added.
