Where in the World is Smokey?

Smokey Likes the "Oranger" Crowd!

A group of Lady Vols fans from the Cornhusker State sent this photo taken in Grand Island, Neb.

“Given the fact that Nebraska is hugely agricultural, we just stopped by a local implement dealer and hopped on a tractor,” wrote Jane Thorngren. “We chose a New Holland tractor since we have a very large Case New Holland plant here in Grand Island.”

Pictured are front, from left: Tina Reichert, on tire; Gail Yenny and Julie Stutzman, holding sign; Kelly Clapp; Thorngren; and, in back, Stacia Mason and Linda Oakley.

“Our connection with Tennessee originally was through Lady Vol basketball. A couple of us went to the final four in Kansas City in 1998 and we were all fans at that time, but had no idea how hard the Tennessee basketball bug was about to bite,” she wrote.

“On return from this unbelievable adventure...people came out of the woodwork who had found out that we were Tennessee fans. From this point on, there were Tennessee parties and gatherings that would rival the ones that go on down in Knoxville. Everyone’s wardrobes have become a lot ‘oranger’ —if that’s a word.”

These women are amazing fans of the Lady Vols. They travel to the SEC tournament, NCAA tournament and Final Four. And everywhere they go, they are singing Rocky Top!
