Where in the World is Smokey?

Smokey Visits Arkansas and Takes a Side Trip to Oklahoma

Janet Smith is a UT Knoxville staff member working for IRIS Administration.

She recently sent photos from Arkansas and Oklahoma.

“The first picture is from Fort Smith, Ark.,” she said. “That is my hometown, and I went back to visit family. The Fort Smith Historic Site is the location of this picture. The park includes the remains of two frontier forts and the Federal Court for the Western District of Arkansas. Judge Isaac C. Parker, known as the ‘hanging judge,’ presided over the court for 21 years.”

The second picture is from Pocola, Okla.

“This is on the outskirts of Fort Smith, Ark., and I went there just to take Smokey to Oklahoma,” she said. “This picture is a casino run by the Choctaw Indian Nation.”
