Where in the World is Smokey?

Summitting Mt. Katahdin

Jim Hendrix graduated from UT Knoxville in 1983 with a degree in business administration. He is the South Central Region manager for the Government & Public Safety Division of Motorola Inc. He sent this photo taken on the summit of Mt. Katahdin, Baxter State Park, Maine, in August 2008.

"This was the culmination of a 50-mile backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail, completing the section called the 'Hundred Mile Wilderness.' We were literally in the clouds that day, but reached the summit with no incident. Mt. Katahdin is the Northern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. At this point in time, I have hiked the trail in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Maine, but still have a long way to go to complete the entire 2,000 miles!"
