Where in the World is Smokey?

Visiting the Jersey Shore with Lucy the Elephant

Aimee Ruzicka graduated from UT Knoxville in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in history and in 1974 with a master's degree in library science. A retired law librarian, she now lives in Nesquehoning, Pa., in the southern Poconos.

She wrote: "This is a picture of me and Smokey in front of Lucy in Margate, N.J. Lucy was born in 1881 and is located along the beach in Margate. She is six stories high and is a designated National Historic Landmark as the oldest surviving example of 'zoomorphic' architecture. Visitors can view the ocean through her eyeballs!

"We were in Atlantic City, N.J., for a concert on the boardwalk and decided to take a short detour to Margate to see Lucy."
