Where in the World is Smokey?

Posing beneath the Gateway Arch in Missouri

Rodney Ammons, who graduated from UT Knoxville in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in communications, now lives in Athens, Tenn., and works as a supplier quality engineer at JTEKT Automotive Tennessee in Vonore. JTEKT manufactures and sells a variety of products, including steering systems, driveline components, bearings, machine tools, electronic control devices and home accessory equipment.

"During a recent business trip (in May 2008) to St. Louis, Mo., I had an opportunity to take Smokey to the Gateway Arch," he wrote. "My business friends did not know what to think when I pulled off my dress shirt and had Smokey underneath."
