DeAnna Flinchum, UT research director and a UT Knoxville alumna, visited Washington state in October 2007.
"My family -- husband, Wayne, and daughters, Tara, 9, and Rachel, 6 -- and my parents went out there for a visit with my aunt. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer right after our visit to Washington last year. My husband had never been to that part of the country so that was his first trip out to the Pacific Northwest. We had a wonderful time seeing the sights and visiting with my aunt , and Smokey was with us the whole time. We went to the Olympic National Park, Mt. Rainer and Mt. Saint Helens."
